Is a formal employment contract with my domestic worker required in Portugal?
In Portugal, domestic employment is governed by Decree-Law No. 235/92, as amended by Law No. 13/2023. The employment relationship must be registered with Social Security, and a written contract is strongly recommended — it's mandatory for fixed-term arrangements.
I've employed a domestic worker for years without a formal contract. What should I do?
You can regularise at any time. Once you create the contract in Domicilia, all salary calculations and Social Security contributions are handled correctly going forward.
How much does it cost?
The Free plan records the working day and calculates pay. Pro plans cover 1 to 5 workers; Pro 1 costs €49.99 a year or €6.99 a month. The annual plan starts with a 14-day free trial. Do I need an accountant to use Domicilia?
No. Domicilia is designed so that any employer — with no technical or legal knowledge — can manage everything independently and in full compliance.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Domicilia is GDPR compliant. Sensitive data (tax ID, social security number, address) is encrypted and stored on servers within the European Union. We never sell or share data with third parties.
