What comes off the gross salary

In domestic work the Social Security deduction does not always follow the salary. The regime declared in the contract sets the base it is charged on, and that is where the month-end difference comes from.

Conventional regime

The base is the IAS value — €537.13 in 2026 — rather than the pay itself. On the €920 national minimum, the deduction is €50.49 and the net pay €869.51. It is the most common regime in domestic work, and the one that records the least: it counts for less towards the pension and carries no entitlement to unemployment benefit.

Real regime

The base is actual gross pay. On the same €920, the deduction rises to €101.20 and the net pay falls to €818.80. In exchange, the contribution record holds the full salary, and a full-time monthly contract carries entitlement to unemployment benefit.

Frequently asked questions

What does a domestic worker take home on the 2026 minimum wage?

On a full-time base salary of €920, the Social Security deduction is €50.49 under the conventional regime and €101.20 under the real one. That leaves €869.51 or €818.80, before income tax and excluding the meal allowance.

What does a part-time domestic worker take home?

On 20 hours a week, with a €460 base salary, the contribution is charged on half the IAS — €268.57 — and comes to €25.25 under the conventional regime, leaving €434.75. Under the real regime it rises to €50.60 and the net pay falls to €409.40.

Does the conventional regime leave a higher net pay?

It does, because the deduction is charged on the IAS value (€537.13 in 2026) rather than on the salary. In exchange, that is the amount on record: it counts for less towards the pension, sickness and parental benefits, and carries no entitlement to unemployment benefit.

Does the meal allowance count towards net pay?

It is paid on top of the salary and carries no Social Security deduction up to €6 per day in cash and €9.60 per day on a meal card. Anything above those limits is charged like ordinary pay.

Is income tax already deducted from this figure?

No. The estimate shows the salary after Social Security and before income tax. Withholding depends on the current tables, the household and the number of earners, and the Domicilia app applies it in the monthly calculation.
